Brazilian Lemonade Vegan (Limonada Suíça)

THE BEST LEMONADE I’VE EVER HAD! 🍋🇧🇷BRAZILIAN LEMONADE (limonada suíça) BUT VEGAN! TIME TO GO TO BRAZIL 🤪 WHO’S COMIN’ WITH ME?! Full recipe video here!

I’ve been seeing this pop up everywhere, so I just HAD to try it. I am not one for trends, but anything sweet & tangy is totally my vibe! It’s so easy to make and is a great way to avoiding having to squeeze a bunch of lemons 😂 But there’s more to why this recipe intrigued me (aside from it being shoved in my face every 5 seconds on TikTok as it was trending) – it use ALL of the citrus, helping minimize waste and I’m particularly interested in South American cuisine. I have yet to visit South America and it’s very high on my list, so any recipes that I can get my hands on (that I can veganize), I will test out!

I did some research before making this drink and a lot of websites/blogs said we shouldn’t blend it for too long, because that’ll make it bitter (due to the oils and flavor of the peel/rind). Which makes TOTAL sense. Also, this recipe is ‘traditionally’ made with limes, but I only had lemons on hand. And this recipe is traditionally made with dairy condensed milk and I used a vegan substitute. So basically, this recipe is anything BUT traditional, LOL. But that doesn’t mean it’s not absolutely bomb and delicious!!

Couple of note: I advise using Natures Charm Oatmilk Condensed Milk – I’ve tested a lot of brands and I found this one to be smoother than the coconut milk version and results in a silkier finish. I advise using organic lemons/limes and scrubbing them clean to remove any dirt. I advise making and drinking this day-of. The longer you let this sit, the more bitter it gets!

Anyways! It is TOTALLY time to go to Brazil and experience the food, culture and beauty! Have I convinced yet to come with?! I also always forget that Brazil (São Paulo) is about 9-10 hour direct flight. While that may seem long, it’s really just a full working day – not THAT bad, LOL!

VEGAN BRAZILIAN LEMONADE:
(serves 2)

  • 2 large lemons scrubbed clean & quartered
  • 1-1 1/2 cups cold water
  • 1/3 cup vegan condensed milk @naturescharmusa
  • a few sprigs of fresh mint leaves (optional)

1. Blend everything together until smooth – not more than 30 seconds.
2. Strain through a fine mesh sieve. I did it twice.
3. Pour over ice & serve.
